- Tyco took his first US Ch points in Dec. 2000 - his first Major - owner handled at the huge Cleveland Christmas Classic shows
- He finished his US title with handler Colin Brownlee with a total of three major wins, and many major reserves
- This year (2005) Tyco entered the Cdn Veterans class in grand style taking BOB and Best Veteran at the SW Ontario Sporting Specialty under Breeder judge Connie Gerstner-Miller. He followed that up with a Best Veterans in Sweeps at the Canadian National Specialty, and a Judges Award of Merit under Breeder judge Jon Chase at the Toronoto Regional Specialty all handled by his best friend, David.
- In Oct of this year he was handled for the first time by fellow breeder-friend Kim Bryk, and competed in an entry of over 1400 goldens at the Golden Retriever Club of America's National Specialty show and made all the cuts down to the final placements and was awarded a Judges Award of Merit under Dr Richard Hilderman. This is a great honour, and qualifies him to compete at the most prestigious dog show in the world, Crufts in the UK.
Most of Tyc's time is now spent on his favorite spot on the couch, or on his bed in Logan's room, although he enjoys being roused off to attend a show, to play with Logan, or for a romp to the local Tim Horton's for his Timbits.
Structure and Temperament
Balance, Balance, Balance,---- Tyco's overall image is that of a moderate, powerful, well-balanced dog!
Tyco is a credit to the breed with abundant flowing burnished golden coat, and a beautiful handsome headpiece. His rich lustrous coat has wonderful texture, and is neither too soft nor too silky, and lies flat to his body, with no signs of openness. He has a lovely handsome head, with no lack of substance, and good stop. A substantial head, quite capable of effortlessly carrying a bird back to his master. He has full dentition, and a proper scissor bite.
He is a dog of considerable substance, weighing in at 72.5 lbs, and standing 23.5" high, he carries ample bone. He moves cleanly both coming and going, and has good reach and drive on his side movement. Judges have commented he has a proper front, good movement, and good balance of front and rear assemblies. He has an amazing depth of chest, and a solid topline, which remains steady on the move. His depth of chest, and rib spring contribute to his powerful outline. His strong musculature is evident when you see it continues right down into his lower thigh. His thick muscular tail is functional, and ready to aid a strong swimmer in water retrievals. He is an active dog, ready and capable to perform the breed's function - a hard day of work in the field with his master, which his structural form supports.
He is truly a dramatic, attractive, stylish gentleman, always exuberant and eager to please, ready to give 100% whenever called upon. He is a true "showman", and wags his tail all the time he is in the ring, or when walking around outside the ring with his "woobie" in his mouth.
His temperament is truly "golden", and he lives in equal peace with adults, children, and other animals including other intact males. His retrieving instinct is high, and his favorite pastime is to play catch with his toys, or Kong or Ball.
We have not pursued any formal obedience or field titles at this time, but Tyco's confident and intelligent attitude make him well suited to multi-purpose titles, and we hope to pursue these areas of competition in the future.
His pedigree is rich in generations of proven out-standing producers and he offers a wealth of substance, richness and soundness to our breeding program.
His structure and personality excite us, and we are fortunate to have a dog of Tyco's quality in our home, in our lives, and in our hearts.
